A little late posting this week, but I wanted to thank Mike Rickard for his wonderful butterfly presentation. Butterflies and Mike certainly go together and draw quite a crowd! We had 50+ come out to enjoy our second-to-last Summer Nature Talk at the Braught Theater. Mike showed us some neat photos of butterflies and pointed out interesting facts about them. He said his primary focus in photographing butterflies is to get a good shot of to identify the species, rather than creating a perfect “calendar ready” image. I have to say, he sure had some fantastic photos, though. He also mentioned that his wife Ginny often points out a great many of the butterflies on their nature walks, and it’s a running joke that if it weren’t for her, they wouldn’t have been able to record as many species. Great work, guys. Thanks so much for coming out and giving a great talk!
