The event is free to the public.
This week’s speaker, Larry Ditto, a celebrated South Texas photographer and wildlife biologist, will share some of his latest images for the presentation, “Beauty in our Backyard: Nature Photography.” He will also discuss his focus on the natural beauty of South Texas and the people who live and work among its wonders.
“My training as a wildlife biologist and background as a manager in the National Wildlife Refuge System have contributed greatly to my pursuit of wildlife photography,” says Ditto.
Ditto was the manager of the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, and has been a nature photographer for many years. His photos have appeared in National Geographic books, Field & Stream, Natural History, Sports Afield and other magazines for many years. Audubon calendars, Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine, National Wildlife, and Texas Highways have also regularly featured his work.
Ditto regularly leads workshops at nature festivals, judges photography contests, and advises landowners on how to set up commercial wildlife photography operations. He conducts several workshops and instructional tours each year.
“We are pleased to host Larry Ditto in partnership with the Weslaco Public Library,” says Sarah Williams, Executive Director of Frontera Audubon Society. “It’s such a treat to view the people and nature of the Rio Grande Valley through his eyes…you don’t want to miss it.”
Summer Nature Talks will be every Tuesday at 6:30 at the Braught Theater at 525 Kansas Ave. in Weslaco. For more information on the Summer Nature Talks Series, contact Frontera Audubon at (956)968-3275 or email email@example.com. For updates, visit http://www.fronteraaudubon.org.
