A JOYFUL WORK DAY AT THE HISTORIC SKAGGS HOUSE

Hardworking volunteers met Saturday, March 6 to freshen up the historic mansion’s interior and “let a little light in.”  The house was home to the Lester Skaggs family and was designed and built by prominent architect R. Newell Waters.  Awarded Texas Historic Landmark status in 1992, the house and property has been home to Frontera Audubon since then; a new Visitors’ Center was built in 2002 (pictured below) which houses the nonprofit’s offices, a meeting room with resource library, and a small gift shop.
