We love our visitors!  And the groups who came from Mission this week are especially treasured because they let the Valley know about our butterflies!  On Thurs., Fri., and Sat., guided tours came from the Mission Butterfly Festival, and the conditions were excellent!  Butterflies were in the air, and the following is a remark made by Tour Guide, nature photographer and avid butterfly enthusiast Gil Quintanilla after leaving Frontera:

“Butterflies at Frontera were Outstanding! The Valley’s best butterfly show this past week is at

the Thicket’s Eups…especially where they tower up 15 to 18 feet right before you get to the bridge.”

Gil coordinates butterfly counts in the Rio Grande Valley and is a regular presenter for the McAllen Great Outdoors Nature Series.  He administers the popular NABA South Texas Butterfly Club website. His butterfly photography has been featured in American Butterflies magazine, Zipcodezoo.com website and various other publications.  His work with Frontera Audubon over the years to create a fabulous birding and butterflying experience is much appreciated!
